International Women's Day

Gabor Insights

Perspectives that move us

Gabor is more than a brand. Since 1919, women have played an active role in shaping our company history – in product design, in marketing and in production. It is our community that makes Gabor a place of exceptional quality, inspiration and personal development.

We celebrate this together on 08/03/2026, International Women’s Day ...

... and we live it every day of the year.

On our journey, we have already achieved a great deal, and yet we know: our development is still not complete.

We remain curious and continue to champion equality, development and community – because we are convinced that every step counts.

Working at Gabor

  • High proportion of women at all production sites: At our factory in Portugal, 78.7% of employees are women, and in Slovakia 73.1% – many of them have been with the company for more than a decade.
  • Flexible working time models: We offer individual and flexible working hours to help balance family and career – for example, special working hours for mothers in addition to shift work in Banovce and Rosenheim.
  • Many years of service: Many employees have been loyal to Gabor for years – on average 12 years in Rosenheim, 15 years in Banovce and as many as 22 years in Portugal.

This long-standing commitment and the trust that has grown from it are an essential part of our success and strengthen Gabor in the long term. They give us the strength to master challenges and confidently break new ground.

Editorial story

The future begins with the first step

There is this childhood moment that many of us know well: as a child, you stand in front of your mother’s shoes – they are far too big, but full of promise.

Curiously, you slip into them, carefully find your balance, maybe laugh at the unfamiliar feeling, try a few steps and, for a brief moment, feel what it is like to step into a different role.

Putting on your mother’s shoes as a child means catching a glimpse of the future – and sensing that your own path, too, is full of possibilities and new experiences.

Over time, we grow into our own shoes. Tentative first steps turn into walking with confidence – and we discover how much strength and personality we carry within us. This is how we shape our path, find our own rhythm and learn to trust ourselves.

Along the way, we constantly encounter different expectations and move between various roles every day: whether as daughters, mothers, partners, friends or colleagues – each role brings its own challenges and new opportunities. In the end, the real art lies in staying true to yourself and taking your own needs seriously.

Marilyn Monroe is said to have once said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” A metaphor for the way shoes in our lives can give us confidence, support and strength.

And yes, the right shoes encourage us to discover different facets of ourselves every day, to take new paths and to shape our roles in a self-determined way.
