Environment and climate protection

For a future worth living

Our contribution to climate protection

Reducing our environmental footprint is a shared responsibility. We want to help ensure that the planet remains habitable for future generations. That’s why we’re working step by step to firmly entrench climate and environmental protection in our everyday lives.

Responsibility requires openness

Transparency is fundamental to us. Since 2021, we have been consistently measuring our corporate carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Scopes 1, 2 and 3 (*). This means we record all emissions generated by the business activities of Gabor Shoes GmbH along the entire value chain.

The result of this calculation shows us where we can target and effectively reduce emissions:

  • Energy consumption and transportation at our own sites
  • Purchased materials and logistics along the supply chain

We have already implemented some steps towards reducing emissions:

  • Renewable energy
At our production sites and at the Rosenheim headquarters, we have expanded the use of renewable energy from 2021 to 2025 by using green electricity and photovoltaic systems (**).
  • Reduced air freight
Whenever possible, we source important materials such as leather or chemicals regionally, directly at our production sites. In this way, we reduce transport-related emissions (***).
  • Materials with a lower carbon footprint
For several years, we have been using removable footbeds made of approximately 50% recycled material in part of our collection. This reduces the need for new resources and protects the environment.

We continuously develop these measures further—with the goal of permanently reducing our emissions while ensuring high quality and wearing comfort.

Circular economy and resource conservation

For us, protecting the climate and environment also means avoiding waste and keeping materials in circulation. That’s why we continuously review and optimize the packaging that protects our shoes on their way to customers. An important step: In 75 % of our shoe boxes, we now use only paper and cardboard as filling material, no plastic anymore (****). These materials can be recycled together with the shoe box as paper waste. In this way, raw materials can be used for longer and waste volumes are reduced.

For our shoe packaging, we are increasingly using recyclable paper and cardboard.
